Hippocamps

The steeds of the sea, a hippocamp is roughly the size of a horse on land, and just as fast in the water.  They are the favored mounts for the specialized naval forces of the Bizeem, and getting the chance to tame and ride one of these creatures is an honor.  Candidates are rigorously tested, needing to be excellent swimmers in their own right and able to hold their breath longer than normal.   A group of these animals is often called a ‘trumpet’, and they can be seen escorting royalty, being able to easily catch up to a ship.  They can also be instrumental in sabotaging enemy ships by swimming up to the hull or rudders unnoticed.  Former hippocamps riders help tend to the corrals where they are kept, and assist with breeding.
